From January to March, China’s Internet business revenue increased by 23.8% year-on-year
From January to March, revenue from the Internet and related services business 1 maintained a double-digit growth, and operating profit increased at the same time. Online games and e-commerce remained active.
First, the overall operation
Internet business revenue growth maintained at double digits. From January to March, China’s large-scale Internet and related service companies (referred to as Internet companies) completed business income of 197.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.8%, and the growth rate was 2.7 percentage points higher than that of the same period of last year.
R & D investment continues to increase. From January to March, the industry’s R&D investment was 11.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.3%. Among the key enterprises, the total R&D investment of music and video companies was basically the same as that of the same period of last year; the R&D investment of online game companies increased by nearly 25%; the growth rate of R&D investment of e-commerce companies engaged in online sales remained at double digits, reaching 21%.
Second, the business operation
The continuous innovation in the online video live broadcast, sharing economy, and home healthcare industries has driven the rapid growth of Internet information service revenue.
From January to March, Internet companies completed 2.28 billion yuan in revenue from Internet data center services, down 10.1% year-on-year. As of the end of March, the number of servers deployed reached 1.194 million, an increase of 40.3% year-on-year.
(B) Internet access service
From January to March, Internet companies completed 6.45 billion yuan in Internet access revenue, a year-on-year decrease of 24%.
(III) Information Service Business
From January to March, the revenue of information services reached 173.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%, accounting for 87.6% of the Internet business revenue. Among them, online game (including client games, mobile games, web games, etc.) business revenue 53.2 billion yuan, an increase of 33.2%.
The major provinces are accelerating their development. The Internet business income of the top three Internet companies in Guangdong, Shanghai, and Beijing increased by 41.3%, 34%, and 23.6%, respectively.
Fourth, the number of China’s mobile application (APP) growth
The number of mobile internet applications in the Chinese market has remained stable. In the first quarter of 2018, the number of active mobile applications increased by 80,000. As of the end of March, the number of mobile applications monitored in the Chinese market was 4.12 million. In March, 150,000 new mobile applications (APPs) were added to third-party application stores and Apple App Stores in China. As of the end of March, the number of mobile applications for local third-party applications stores in China reached 2.3 million, and the number of mobile applications for Apple stores (China) was 1.82 million.
The number of game applications has grown significantly. As of the end of March, the number of games was 1.34 million, an increase of nearly 170,000 from the end of last year; and the number of applications for life services reached 471,000, ranking second. Ranked third and fourth respectively are e-commerce applications and audio and video playback applications, with a scale of 374,000 and 354,000 respectively. Among the hot applications in the market, the number of smart logistics applications represented by logistics companies, freight transportation service applications, and electronic malls with their own logistics service capabilities exceeds 18,000; and financial codes such as QR code scanning and transfer are provided. The number of online payment applications for the payment function is about 12,000.
Four types of applications have downloaded more than 100 billion times. By the end of March, the cumulative number of distributions by third-party app stores exceeded 1.1 trillion. The downloads of game applications, system tools, social communication, and audio and video playback applications exceeded 100 billion, which were 2012 billion, 1985 billion, 155.4 billion, and 152.4 billion. Among other applications, applications with over 50 billion downloads include daily tools (83.5 billion), lifestyle services (68.7 billion), information reading applications (65.1 billion), and e-commerce (565). Billion times) and financial class (51.1 billion times).
